Someone to Walk With

RESOURCES  (Day 6 of 7)
(Need to start at the beginning? Day 1)

Resources for your particular area of growth will run the gamut, but I think one of the more truly solid helps is having an accountability partner.

Being a steward requires ongoing learning and practice. Having someone to walk with you would be an amazing help. I don’t think it’s important that your accountability partner has to be skilled in your area of practice (though it would be nice). It’s just about being there, asking the right questions, and reminding you to stay on track.

How are you doing with ___?
What do you need to practice this week?
How can I pray for you?

I have a friend I meet with weekly for coffee. We share life, but we are also not afraid to ask a hard question or two. (And, just as a consideration, pick someone who will keep your confidences and offer grace in the journey.)

More Practice

SECOND TRY  (Day 5 of 7)
(Need to start at the beginning? Day 1)

Let’s give stewardship a bit more practice today.

What were you working on a couple of days ago? Do you need more practice? Is there something else that God is nudging you over?

king of hearts card

I’m still thinking about my husband’s heart. It all started back when we had a week of gentleness. If I am a caretaker of my husband’s heart, what does that look like, and what does he need in an emotional sense? I know my husband is a tough guy, but guys have a softer side too.

I’m thinking kindness and respect are huge. A sensitivity to personal wounds and solid doses of encouragement are on the table.

Let’s Roll Up Our Sleeves

ROADBLOCKS  (Day 4 of 7)
(Need to start at the beginning? Day 1)

There’s a certain amount of humility involved in being a steward. You are working to meet His standards His way. You are working to serve others rather than just yourself.

Personal preferences or the need to control are at war with that, as is general selfishness.

Stewardship can also be a lot of work and responsibility. It’s no joke.

Stewarding Your Marriage

FIRST TRY  (Day 3 of 7)
(Need to start at the beginning? Day 1)

Let’s take a look at our marriages today.

As a steward, what are you responsible for? How are you doing? If you were going to have a conversation with God about it, what would you say? Do you have a sense of where you need to grow and mature as a spouse?

Is there one small practical thing you can do today to build your marriage relationship?

I’m a Steward, You’re a Steward

SELF-EXAMINATION  (Day 2 of 7)
(Need to start at the beginning? Day 1)

So what things are you a steward of?

I’m a steward of my body, my gifts, and my abilities. I also am steward of my home and my various responsibilities. (I love being a steward of the garden.)   🙂

I’m also a co-steward of my marriage and various other relationships.

Some of these I have done fairly well at. Others not so much.

I’m going to spend my day looking at these various things through the lens of being a steward. I’m also filtering in the concept that I am responsible to God. What does being a caretaker look like in light of that?

Stewardship

CONCEPT  (Day 1 of 7) One of the themes running around in Jesus’ teachings and parables is that of stewardship. God owns everything, even us (1 Cor 6:19-20), and He places us as stewards. We’re to watch over, care for, and manage our lives, our relationships, our personal gifting, etc. couple discussing paperwork Let’s spend the day talking to God about the concept of stewardship.
