CONCLUSIONS – VALUE OTHERS (Day 7 of 7)
(Need to start at the beginning? Day 1)
How was your week? Were you able to show your spouse that you valued them? Others? Where did you succeed? Where did you flub up?
Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Philippians 2:3-4
As I went through my week, I gave thought to and asked Paul what was really important to him, so I could make room for those things.
We had some interesting talks and we examined how we treated each other. An interesting point was the focus on the things that mattered most to each of us. It’s good to be nice to your spouse, but it’s better to major on those things that matter most to them or that they need the most.
A couple of examples:
I’ve been pretty sick for the last week or so. I finally made it from slug world back to the human world, just. Paul made sure I got to have time at our favorite coffee shop.

I needed the social time with a good friend, and Paul just put everything else on hold and made it happen. (Yes, he gets major hubby points.)
Also, early in our marriage, I took the time to deal with my personal wounds over sex (early childhood abuse). Sex was important to Paul and to the health of our marriage. It was very difficult, I won’t lie, but I don’t think taking care of all my husband’s other needs besides sex would have had the same impact.

I did manage to work another puzzle. We had a snowstorm roll in and it seemed the thing to do.
