AN EXTRA WEEK – (Day 5 of 6)
These are our three concepts to reflect on and practice this week.
WORK YOUR PLAN – be intentional about lovin’ your spouse.
BE OPEN TO REASON – listen to understand.
DRAW THEM CLOSE – invite your spouse to draw near.
When someone voices a different opinion or an idea you haven’t thought of, how do you react? What goes through your head and emotions?
Paul and I are so different, I am confronted with this often.
Yesterday, Paul and I put out some netting (the deer ate our rhubarb plants and are eyeing my squash).

We literally picked opposite approaches on how to set out the netting. Paul laughed and remarked about how we are truly opposites. He’s learned to bend, as I have, because if it’s not an important issue, it’s not worth wrangling over.
We generally have to make many, many decisions over different projects (on and offline). His way is as good as mine. Our ways are just different.
We’ve come to the conclusion, if one of us is doing the work, we go more with their way. Sometimes one of us feels more strongly about a choice and, if we can, we go with that.
Paul’s building a garden fence, it’s his design and work (though we did much of the general planning together). Website work is often my design because I’m putting in the work (though Paul’s techie skills and input are much appreciated).
The journey has not always been easy, but we’ve had lots of practice so we are getting better at it. 🙂
Be sure to consider different ideas today. Let those differences help you examine your heart and mind. Can you make room for the dissonance and be open to reason about it?

Homegrown carrots be strange. 🙂

It’s still edible, just an oddity.
