This week, I want to talk to you about story work.
So what is story work?
Story Work is a process of writing, reading, and engaging key stories from your life for the purpose of bringing both insight and care. ~ Gwen St. John
What I like about story work is it comes from a Christian worldview. The Allender Center is one place focused on using story work to bring growth and healing to hurting people.

Story work is sharing a story from your past with a coach or a group. The story, a difficult event in the person’s life, is written out ahead of time, and then read. It is short, typically 600–800 words. Once it is shared, the story is lovingly explored. Doing this helps us understand ourselves better.
Humans have always told stories. When we share part of our own story, we expose ourselves. That can help us grow and heal, and it can help others get closer to us.
How might you use story to help your spouse understand you better?
~ This is Paul, reminding you that every person’s story is different

I love a good sunset!

So when I saw this on the way home the other night, I had to stop and get a picture.

Journaling has helped me see and understand my story from a different perspective. And small marriage groups in our church gives us the opportunity to share our story to help others know and understand theirs.
I’ve not heard of Story Work before, Paul. Thanks!
And what a beautiful sunset.
