RESOURCES  (Day 6 of 7)

In looking for helpful resources …

The heart of her husband trusts in her [with secure confidence], and he will have no lack of gain. She comforts, encourages, and does him only good and not evil all the days of her life.  Proverbs 31:11-12 AMP

Probably the best resource is your spouse. I will own this can be a bit nervy, but asking questions can give you some very helpful answers. Do pick a good time. Maybe over coffee or on a walk around the block.

  • What do I do that makes you feel unloved or disrespected?
  • What do I do that builds trust?
  • What else could I do?

If they are uncomfortable talking about things that are not going well, ask them about what blesses them and do more of that.

I think the most important thing is to listen and not go into defense mode. No, it’s not easy, but if you can take in what they say and pray about it, you may learn some very important ways to bless your spouse.

A second help might be your happily married friends. What do they do for their spouse that seems to build their marriage?
