Make Them Smile

GIVE IT A TRY

SPOUSES ARE #1  (Day 3 of 6)
(Need to start at the beginning? Day 1)

Take the day and look for ways to tell your spouse they’re your #1 person.

NUMBER ONE

Ask them how you can pray for their day. Buy them something you know they will love (chocolate works). Invite them to join you doing something they enjoy. Ask their opinion. Listen well when they speak. Lots of hugs and kisses (and more).

Make your spouse smile today.

I can’t figure out whether this is boredom or just bad taste.

TILLY SAMPLING A RICE CAKE

Tilly sampled my rice cake. She actually liked it. Now I have to hide them.

Stand Strong

GIVE IT A TRY

BE STEADFAST  (Day 3 of 6)
(Need to start at the beginning? Day 1)

Let’s think through and practice a bit of steadfastness today.

Consider well and watch carefully the path of your feet, and all your ways will be steadfast and sure. Proverbs 4:26 AMP

When you think of your marriage, what does remaining loyal look like? What says I’m steady, reliable, and faithful? What says, I’m working to keep us strong and united for life?

COUPLE HOLDING HANDS

In one sense, that can sound a bit boring, but none of that has to be. You can be creative, delightful, and fun, and still be steady and strong for your spouse.

Take the day and look for ways to communicate a steady commitment to your spouse. Maybe have a conversation or two with your sweetie about their views on steadfastness.

I mentioned we put together new standing desks and reorganized our office area a bit. I created a spot for Tilly (she loves the window) and … she ignored it … for days. She is such a cat.

SPOILED TILLY

Well, finally today (when I really didn’t want her in the office) she decided that she loved the spot. It doesn’t hurt that she’s near enough to get plenty of pets.

Watch Out for the Snark

GIVE IT A TRY

STOP THE SCOFFING  (Day 3 of 6)
(Need to start at the beginning? Day 1)

Practice day!

Drive out the scoffer, and contention will go away; even strife and dishonor will cease. Proverbs 22:10 AMP

Let’s take the day and watch how we speak and act.

SNARKY WOMAN

If you find yourself getting a bit snarky, pause, and redirect. Apologize if you need to. Watch what makes it easier to go into scoffing mode.

Should be an interesting day of learning and practicing.

Paul and I are going back to standing desks (they’re adjustable).

TILLY HELPING

We had a day of unpacking desks bits and pieces, assembling them, and reorganizing our office area. Tilly helped.

Bless Someone With Silence or Inaction

GIVE IT A TRY

SAY/DO NOTHING (Day 3 of 6)
(Need to start at the beginning? Day 1)

Let’s take the day and give silence/inaction some thought and action inaction.

When do we need to pause and not speak up?

I find if I jump into a conversation too quickly, I can run over someone talking. Not only is that rude, but people can need a little extra time to share their heart or explain their thoughts. It’s wisdom to hold my tongue and give them that time.

WOMAN GIVING TIME OUT GESTURE

When do we need to pause and not act?

I have to bite my tongue and sit on my hands sometimes with my grandkids. There are times they need to figure something out on their own or take responsibility for their actions. For me to step in and do something for them could be more hurtful than helpful.

The same can happen with adults. Yes, I want to be helpful, but there are times when others need to step up, or it’s wisdom for me to say no because I have too much on my plate.

What could saying or doing nothing look like when it’s a blessing?

So the forecast was for the low teens overnight.

LOW TEMPS

We actually got down to single digits. I’m so grateful for our warm little home.

Step Up to Meet the Need

GIVE IT A TRY

LET’S ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING (Day 3 of 6)
(Need to start at the beginning? Day 1)

Practice day!

Little children, let us … love … in deed and in truth. 1 John 3:18 ESV

When you see a need, ask yourself if there is something you can do.

WHAT IS YOUR ACTION PLAN?

Consider stepping up, even if it is something you don’t normally do. Ask your sweetie if there is something you can do for him today?

The continuing adventures of bored Tilly …

She’s knocked several things off of shelves, and we’ve put a number of items on the floor for her to play with. Yesterday it was a shopping bag. Great fun.

KITTY IN A BAG

Until the bag got her.

THE EVIL KITTY EATING BAG

We had to chase her around the kitchen to catch her and set her free from the evil kitty eating bag.

Watch Your Words

.GIVE IT A TRY

WORDS, WORDS, WORDS  (Day 3 of 6)
(Need to start at the beginning? Day 1)

Practice day!

Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight,
O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.
Psalm 19:14 ESV

Spend the day watching your words.

WOMAN CATCHING HER WORDS

Are there situations where it’s more difficult to speak graciously? Easier? Try catching your words before they come out of your mouth. If you blow it, just pause, apologize, and restate.

Practice, practice, practice.

I’d like to thank all those who donated to us in 2024 (giving statements will be out before the end of the month). We are deeply blessed that folks are willing to give to our support.

That said, we did not reach our yearly goal. Not to worry. We have some new income sources, so we will keep our lights on, have food in our fridge, and keep Tilly’s food bowl full.

TILLY AND HER FOOD BOWL

What that does mean is that we are going to rethink where and how we minister. There will still be some blogging going on (fewer folks are here), but we will likely put more time into audio and video (where people are going). We’re not in any hurry, but you will see some changes in 2025. Prayers and ideas appreciated. 🙂
