CONCEPT – DO IT! (Day 1 of 7)
I’ve been thinking about “doing.”
All this landed me in James, where he has a lot to say about doing.
What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. James 2:14-17 ESV
Now we all we are saved through Christ’s work on the cross, but Paul is saying faith must have expression. Knowledge or feel good feelings don’t produce anything. Actually doing something has impact.
He even went as far as to say:
So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin. James 4:17 ESV
The follow through to action is really important!
I’d like to take this week and really think and experiment with “doing.” Just as faith isn’t worth much without expression, so is love, thoughtfulness, and such.
Look at God’s actions toward us. He provided a savior (at great cost) and more. How have others’ action benefitted you? How have your actions benefitted others?
