I was reading in Colossians and this verse stood out to me (I’m sharing it in the Amplified to share a bit of nuance).

Let the peace of Christ [the inner calm of one who walks daily with Him] be the controlling factor in your hearts [deciding and settling questions that arise]. To this peace indeed you were called as members in one body [of believers]. And be thankful [to God always]. Colossians 3:15 AMP

The Colossians were being fussy with each other, and Paul is trying to help them stop that nonsense. I think what stood out to me was that Paul saw inner peace as a part of the solution to division and general crankiness.

On a personal level, I could stand to be less cranky and walk more kindly when I am at odds with others. In marriage, that’s one of the kindest gifts you can give your spouse, IMO.

So today I’m thinking about what it means to walk daily with God so that His peace can govern what I say and do. Join me?

Just a reminder that Paul and I are running our year-end fundraiser. If you love what we do, please prayerfully consider giving to our ministry so we can give all our time to helping couples grow their marriage.
