RESOURCES (Day 6 of 7)
(Need to start at the beginning? Day 1)
I looked around for books about gentleness and ran across this book by Dallas Willard, but it was more about gentleness in apologetics (something we could all use 1 Peter 3:15) and not quite what I was looking for.
So I went back to Jesus as a model for gentleness.
A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not quench, until he brings justice to victory; Matthew 12:20 ESV
Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Matthew 11:29 ESV
I would think reading and meditating on the four gospels would be a tremendous help in understanding and growing in gentleness.
Also look for folks you consider gentle and use them as a model. I have a couple of friends that are particularly gentle with kids. I can learn something from them.

Lori,
You must read Gentle and Lowly, The Heart of Christ for Sinners and Suffering, by Dane Ortlund.
It is exactly what you’re describing about seeing this quality in Christ. I read it slow to absorb the Truths written.
Debi, thanks so much for the recommendation.
Some books you just have to chew on every few paragraphs.
You will enjoy every bite.
Miss you guys.
Have a blessed Sunday!
