CONCEPT  (Day 1 of 7)

Let’s consider our speech.

Do not let unwholesome [foul, profane, worthless, vulgar] words ever come out of your mouth, but only such speech as is good for building up others, according to the need and the occasion, so that it will be a blessing to those who hear [you speak]. Ephesians 4:29 AMP

I went ahead and gave you the amplified version for the nuances in the translation.

We’re given a “to do” and a “don’t do” in this verse.

to do and not do list

What I find interesting is that good speech builds up and is a blessing. The scripture doesn’t say what the bad speech will do, but it seems clear that it will tear down and do damage by comparison. Kind of an easy choice on paper, but maybe not so easy in real life.

Let’s spend the day talking to God about that difference. What does that look like? How does good and bad speech impact marriage and other close relationships?
