Yesterday, my husband and I were exhausted. We both, at one time or another, got a bit short and snippy with each other.

fussy couple

This morning, we woke up and apologized. Neither of us liked being on the receiving end of the short and snippy, and we had no good reason for delivering the short and snippy (other than just being dog-tired, something we need to work on).

Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body. Proverbs 16:24 ESV

So we talked about how to watch our tone of voice in the future. You can say any number of things well, if you will only say them kindly. So we’re going to take a page from Proverbs and work on speaking gracious words (other versions say kind or pleasant).

Take the day and just listen to everyone’s tone of voice and look at the fruit of it. What other scriptures come to mind about words and tone of voice?
