I was reading in Proverbs and this verse stood out to me and just wouldn’t go away.

Whoever works his land will have plenty of bread, but he who follows worthless pursuits lacks sense. Proverbs 12:11 ESV

In context for this list, I don’t think it means we should all be wheat farmers. 🙂 I think it speaks to that which is important and that which is worthless in our lives.

wheat kernels and bread

The important “working the land” gave good consequences. The worthless “other pursuits” gave poor consequences.

Take the day and talk to God about what He deems important and worthless in your life. Where does He want you to put your time and effort?

Essentialism was my book for February. (I’m on to Redeeming Heartache by Allender for March.)

Essentialism book by Greg McKeown

If you’re looking for a bit of help in thinking through important issues in your life, Essentialism is a pretty good read. It has certainly challenged me to think through where I put my time and effort.
