ROAD BLOCKS (Day 4 of 7)
(Need to start at the beginning? Day 1)
… I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people … 1 Timothy 2:1 ESV
One of the biggest road blocks to prayer is when I’m hacked off at someone. I go from “God, I don’t want to pray for them, I want to smack them.” to “God, fix them!” Not really what God had in mind for prayer, I would imagine. In fact, one of my go-to signs that I’ve forgiven someone is that I can pray good things for them.
So when I get upset at my hubby, the first thing I have to do is present my heart to God and let Him help me settle down (love the book Unoffendable, it’s been a great help in this area). I trust God with His timetable and agenda, not mine.
Other roadblocks are distraction and busyness. Sometimes I don’t know what to pray. I used to do a daily prayer prompt back on the old blog. Hmmm. I need to think about that.
What are common road blocks to prayer for your spouse?
