SELF-EXAMINATION – SPEAK BLESSINGS  (Day 2 of 6)
(Need to start at the beginning? Day 1)

What are your thoughts about this week’s concept?

From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so.  James 3:10 ESV

I spent awhile examining what builds up and what tears down. Certainly word choices are important, but I realized that tone of voice could play into it too. If you give someone directions, you can speak kindly and respectfully, or talk down to them like they’re totally stupid. One blesses. One curses their value and worth.

impatient wife

I’ve been impatient with my grandkids. Goodness, I’ve been impatient with my spouse and said something I wish I hadn’t. And sometimes I’ve been thoughtless about my choice of words, or I’ve stepped out of my lane and given unwanted, unhelpful advice.

Take the day and examine how you communicate. Where have you communicated blessing? Cursing?

Will y’all pause a moment and pray with me? We are coming up on a holiday weekend that is likely to include family gatherings. Please pray for travel safety and patience with family situations.

Do also pray for your marriage so that you and your spouse can be on the same page and take care of each other. Gatherings can be so fun, but they can be stressful too.
