RESOURCES (Day 6 of 7)
(Need to start at the beginning? Day 1)
So where do we go for support in developing a more wholesome vocabulary?
Do not let unwholesome [foul, profane, worthless, vulgar] words ever come out of your mouth, but only such speech as is good for building up others, according to the need and the occasion, so that it will be a blessing to those who hear [you speak]. Ephesians 4:29 AMP
There is some truth to the phrase “garbage in, garbage out”. We tend to become like the people we hang out with. If we spend time with people who talk garbage, we are more likely to be garbage speakers ourselves.
On the other hand, choosing sweet friends whose words are a blessing means our words are more likely to be uplifting and a blessing to the hearers.
Who are your more encouraging friends? Are your book and TV selections uplifting? What sources do you draw from? What social media do you follow?
I’ll own that I watch/read very little news. I know enough to know what is going on in the world, but endless hours of news would almost certainly lead to unwholesome speech on my part.
Let’s gravitate to more wholesome speakers/sources to help us stay on track.
Paul and I vacationed with friends last week.
Here’s a picture from the aquarium at the Kansas City Zoo. I fell in love with the simple grace of the jellyfish. God is an amazing designer/creator!
