What’s in Your Pocket?

MY THOUGHTS

BE STEADFAST –  (Day 6 of 6)
(Need to start at the beginning? Day 1)

Being steadfast is another one of those over-arching principles.

Consider well and watch carefully the path of your feet, and all your ways will be steadfast and sure. Proverbs 4:26 AMP

It’s a quality you apply to all the rest of the qualities you want in your like. I want to be steadfast in kindness, steadfast in offering grace, steadfast in telling the truth, and so forth.

BE STEADFAST NOTE IN POCKET

I’m going to have to tuck this concept in my pocket to have ready at all times.

What were your experiences? Your thoughts on your week of consideration and practice?

Paul and I spent the day working on taxes. We were so tired by dinnertime, we went out to eat.

DINNER OUT

I don’t think I’ve ever taken a picture of my food.  🙂  So just to prove I can be cool, he’s my turkey pot pie.

Make Contention, Strife, and Dishonor Cease

MY THOUGHTS

STOP THE SCOFFING –  (Day 6 of 6)
(Need to start at the beginning? Day 1)

How was your week?

Drive out the scoffer, and contention will go away; even strife and dishonor will cease. Proverbs 22:10 AMP

I had a couple of instances in conversation with Paul where I said, “Oh, man, I think I just scoffed.” Because I’m aware of the concept, I’m becoming more aware of when I’m guilty of it.

WOMAN STOPPING THE SCOFF

All the mutzing around did help me identify the smaller expressions of scoffing, both in myself and in others. Peaceable rather than snarky words are where I want to live.

I hope you learned something helpful this week as well.

Have a great weekend with your sweetie, family, and friends!

Tilly continues to climb, this time up on the fridge after a fly (how in the world did we get a fly in the house in the wintertime?).

TILLY ON THE FRIDGE

She’s getting plenty of exercise and indoor adventure.

Have a Heart to Serve

MY THOUGHTS

SAY/DO NOTHING –  (Day 6 of 6)
(Need to start at the beginning? Day 1)

What an interesting week!

What did you learn about the balance of saying/not saying and doing/not doing?

I’ve been working on having a heart ready to serve, and then praying for wisdom to know when to speak/act and when not to.

THOUGHTFUL WOMAN

I realized that in certain areas of my life, I’ve been a bit lazy. I didn’t even consider being a part of service. In other areas, I needed to move slower and more prayerfully. Each circumstance was different and might need a different word/action. Life is not a one-size fits all.

What were your successes? Where did you fumble? What made a good difference for you?

Have a great weekend!

I’m having color withdrawal! It’s been white, white, and more white with all the snow.

PURPLE & YELLOW IRISES

Just sharing a bit of color from the past to remind myself that one day it will be spring again.

How May I Help?

MY THOUGHTS

LET’S ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING –  (Day 6 of 6)
(Need to start at the beginning? Day 1)

It was an interesting week for me.

Little children, let us … love … in deed and in truth. 1 John 3:18 ESV

I spent a good amount of time serving and loving on others, and I still got my necessary jobs done and then some. I blame God. 🙂

JOURNAL & COFFEE

Each morning I sat down with my bullet journal and coffee. I talked to God about how to be available to those around me, what were their needs, and how could/should I help. It was a bit nervy because this is January, which is heavy in bookkeeping and other year-end/beginning chores.

I rather liked the impact on my time use and sanity. I’m going to make this a habit.

How did y’all do? What did you learn about yourself and your relationships? Were you able to show your love in action toward your spouse?

After the traumatic evil plastic bag incident, we chose a safer paper bag for Tilly.

TILLY IN A BAG

No handles and very chewable.

Make the Time and Effort

MY THOUGHTS

WORDS, WORDS, WORDS –  (Day 6 of 6)
(Need to start at the beginning? Day 1)

So how did you do this week?

Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight,
O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.
Psalm 19:14 ESV

I actually changed a few words to soften their impact. 🙂  Much nicer.

LOVE PASSAGE

It took a fair amount of attention during the day to consider my words more carefully, but I really, really liked the change. I felt better about how I was communicating.

What did you learn this week? What were your successes? Where do you need to put in more practice?

Just a pretty picture.

SWAN

‘Cause we could all use a little pretty. (Even if it is more snowy white.) 🙂

It’s the Doing That Makes the Difference

MY THOUGHTS

LET’S BE GOOD-HEARTED –  (Day 6 of 6)
(Need to start at the beginning? Day 1)

So how did your holiday week go?

[Love] does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful.  1 Corinthians 13:5 ESV

Were you able to be more loving and set down the negatives?

I did fairly well. But I must say, my time was easier because Paul went into helpful mode. He made opportunity for my introvert self to have alone time. He entertained the grandkids which, believe me, are quite the handful. He cooked, helped with clean up, and more.

MAN DOING DISHES

I was deeply blessed by his actions and I learned from them. The simplest acts of service made life so much easier for others and we all felt a bit loved on too.

One evening I said, “Thanks for all your doing.” It’s the doing that makes the difference.

My DIL is so talented and creative.

CHRISTMAS SCENES

Every year she creates little scenes out of polymer clay. This year we got the lighted Christmas tree Paul made, plus a critter-scape with a bunny in memory of Newton (our house rabbit who went to rabbit heaven this year).
